Cala d’en Serra

Cala d’en Serra is a beach in the northern part of Ibiza close to Portinatx.

The beach of Cala d’en Serra is a small horseshoe bay with a further satellite coves near by. The sandy/stone beach has clean clear water and was once named in The Guardian newspaper, one of Europe’s best beaches. The bay is surrounded by steep cliffs as you can see in the pictures.

According to wikipedia the ruin was a building project who started in 1969 by acclaimed Catalan Architect Josep Lluís Sert, who was exiled in the United Statesat the time, was planned to be a luxury hotel resort complex.

Funny thing is that a day after I visited this place and found out the story behind the ruin (more about it here) I had to take a photography of the architect’s grave stone for an arhitects book.
