Es Canaret – my new favorite beach in Ibiza

Es Canaret is a small corner of paradise in the North of Ibiza Island where the luckiest of us can anchor their yachts and enjoy the clear water, the silence and the sun on all their naked skin.

If you don’t have an yacht you may get here just like us by car until one point and then by foot for 700m on a beautiful trail through the private courtyard of a castle house. Thanks to the owner of this house the trail is clean and very well marked.

How to get to Es Canaret ( Calo des Porcs ):

Take the road C733, drive north , just before Sant Joan take a left turn and continue on C733 to Portinatx, after 1.5km take the left turn towards Calo de S’illa. Follow this for another km and turn right to Cala de Xarraca ( a nice beach but with a nicer satellite beach – about this in another post). Keep the road, after 250m, the 3rd dirt road with the coloured small stones in blue and green, also with the big sign Es Canaret will lead you to a parking place – here you leave your car.

Now, by foot, follow the Sendero Publico sign and in 10 minutes you’ll be on the beach. Or in 30 minutes if you stop  at every step to take some pictures as we did.

To access the first small beach you have to walk along the wall, just like my dog in the picture above for less then a minute or wet your feet a little.

For the second and larger beach you have to be very cautious either you choose to swim for 400m or climb the rocks.

Keep in mind that you can’t buy anything to eat or drink there so it might be a good idea to bring some snacks with you but don’t forget to take the empty packages, bottles with you. Some did.

The closest restaurant is at the Cala Xarraca, 5 minutes by car.
